CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - An airman with the West Virginia Air National Guard has died in Kuwait.

The state Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety said 49-year-old Tech. Sgt. David Board of Barboursville died Wednesday in a non-combat incident. The agency said Board was deployed in support of combat operations targeting the Islamic State and was assigned aircraft maintenance duties.

Board was assigned to the 130th Airlift Wing at McLaughlin Air National Guard Base.

Wing commander Col. Johnny Ryan said Board was an important part of the Guard and will be remembered as a patriot.
