SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Two people in Utah say bullets were shot toward them while they were climbing in Little Cottonwood Canyon.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2wPMTub ) the climbers said they could hear the bullets whiz by them on Monday, striking rocks in the general area.

Salt Lake City police say they are not sure who fired the bullets and if the suspects were aiming at the climbers, but shell casings were found about 500 feet (150 meters) from where the two were climbing.

Witnesses say a green car with about three people in it left the canyon before officers arrived.

No one was injured and the investigation is ongoing.
