Here’s what’s wrong with America’s places of higher learning: They’re breeding grounds for leftist viciousness.
Clemson University assistant professor Bart Knijnenburg just took to Facebook to demand President Donald Trump supporters and Republicans — “racist scum,” he called them — “denounce your affiliation or admit you’re a racist.”
Oh, the irony.
It’s against just such broad brush strokes that Knijnenburg painted that the left likes to claim it rebels.
Democrats, after all, proclaim loudly to be the party of diversity, party of tolerance, party of the minority, party of the LGBT, party of the little guy.
But more to truth, Dems are party of the one mind.
More to truth, there are far more on the left who think like Knijnenburg — and call that sane.
With the left, you’re either with them or the enemy.
Nowhere else is that anarchist-like principle being played as on our nation’s once proud college campuses.
Don’t believe it? Ask Milo Yiannopoulos, conservative author and speaker who, by all gay accounts, ought to be a huge love of the left but because his politics lean conservative, is tossed on the same trash heap as Ann Coulter — another rock star of the right whose mere name causes riots to break among the snowflake crowd. Both Coulter and Yiannopoulis were recently treated to the famous leftist welcome at Berkeley, the supposed university face of tolerance and diversity. Protests in the lead-up to their appearances led to fires, broken glass, clashes with police and threats of more to come.
But once again, to the left, this is all very sane and proper.
“All trump supporters, nay, all Republicans, are racist scum,” Knijnenburg recently wrote on Facebook, Campus Reform noted.
He then clarified in his comments section: “All republicans? Yes. Your complacency made this happen. Pick a side: denounce your affiliation or admit you’re a racist.”
He then goes on to ding America as a society that’s “aggressively structured to make [certain] white males succeed at the expense of minorities” and that Trump, Trump voters and the GOP in general are akin to “Nazis,” the “KKK” and the “Alt-right.”
And then? He cheers the violence.
“I admire anyone who stands up against white supremacy,’ Knijnenburg wrote. “Violent or non-violent. This needs to stop, by any means necessary. #PunchNazis.”
So what did Clemson administrators do when they learning of these hateful posts?
They acknowledged the hateful message Knijnenburg brought forth — but called on “everyone in the Clemson family to live our core values and rise above the fray.”
How nice. Angry parents have called for the professor’s firing, but the school, as today’s leftist schools do, has only doubled down in protection mode and simply slapped the wrist of the good professor.
But these are the type of situations that call for swift and harsh response. Think about it: If this professor were a Republican attacking Barack Obama, Obama voters and Democratic Party members in such manner, would the outcry go unpunished?
Likely not. The fact this professor is not only allowed to continue to teach, but pretty much protected by his higher-ups — vicious rhetoric, be danged — only shows how far left America’s places of higher learning have leaned of late. At the very least, Knijnenburg should be required to write a lengthy apology and retraction — and if he doesn’t, face suspension and outright firing. America’s youth deserve college experiences that reflect the true diversity of America’s thought, not the narrow mindedness of the leftist professors and administrators who’ve taken root to spread their progressive propaganda.
