MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - On the sixth anniversary of Tropical Storm Irene inundating Vermont, Republican Gov. Phil Scott says Vermont stands ready to offer support and help to communities in Texas facing the impact of Harvey.
Scott said Monday that Vermont faced one of its most impactful natural disasters six years ago when Irene caused major flooding across the state.
He says the response to and recovery from Irene showed the very best of Vermont. Scott says the anniversary is also a time to focus on the continued work to make Vermont more flood-resilient, through infrastructure improvements, flood mitigation initiatives and by addressing climate change.
