Nationals third baseman Anthony Rendon wore specialized cleats Sunday with “Houston” and an outline of the skyline designed on them against the New York Mets for MLB’s Players Weekend.
While the cleats were designed well in advanced, they take on a newer meaning with the city being affected by Hurricane Harvey. MLB allowed personalized gear this weekend as part of Players Weekend.
A Texas native, Rendon grew up on the southside of Houston and played college baseball at Rice University. He was drafted by the Nationals in 2013.
