ISLAND POND, Vt. (AP) - The Vermont Woodlands Association and the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources are offering a free woods tour of timberlands in Northeast Kingdom.

The bus tour is of the Weyerhaeuser land and takes place Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Organizers say the theme of the tour is recreation. Stops will include recreational, pedestrian, and road access hiking trails and a road and snowmobile trail relocation. Other stops will be at a moose browsing area and an active harvesting operation, where a forester will explain equipment and products produced.

Participants are required to pre-register by Sept. 12 by calling 802-747-7900 or emailing info@vermontwoodlands.org.
