COLOGNE, Germany (AP) - Hamburger SV defeated Cologne 3-1 for its second consecutive win to start the Bundesliga in a match stopped for nearly 10 minutes because of an injury to the referee on Friday.
Referee Felix Brych was hurt early in the second half and the match had to be halted until he was replaced by the fourth official.
Brych apparently injured a muscle while running by himself near midfield. He limped to the locker rooms and never came back.
In the first action taken by fourth official Soeren Storks, Hamburg defender Mergim Mavraj was sent off for a second yellow card.
Hamburg was already leading 2-0 thanks to first-half goals by Andre Hahn and Bobby Wood.
Cologne moved closer with a goal by Frederik Soerensen in the seventh of the 13 minutes of added time, but substitute Lewis Holtby sealed Hamburg’s victory with a 100th-minute goal.
Hamburg leads the Bundesliga, although provisionally, for the first time since 2009.
