BARRE, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott says he’s months away from revealing how he will trim a required $5 million from the state budget.
The budget was signed into law in June by the Republican governor. The Times Argus reports (https://bit.ly/2wN5y98 ) the budget requires Scott’s administration to find $5 million in administrative savings.
Speaking at a weekly news conference Thursday, Scott says he is still developing a plan to find savings.
The Republican governor says it will be October or November when he releases the budget plan, and each agency and department is working to find ways to cut costs. He says he’s also looking for savings without impacting programs used by Vermont residents.
