Don’t let it be said President Donald Trump doesn’t have a sense of humor.

In a quick hit of a key, Trump retweeted a meme that showed his full-color face sliding in front of a black-and-white picture of Barack Obama, above a full-capped caption that read, “THE BEST ECLIPSE EVER.”

It only took a few minutes for the Trump retweet to generate thousands of likes.

Similarly, predictably enough, it only took minutes for the anti-Trumpers to find cause to cry racism.

Haaretz, for instance, called the image a “race-baiting photo.”

Oh, please. It was a poke at the former prez — and a clever one, at that.

Remember when Obama, back in February, said this?

“I continue to believe Mr. Trump will not be president and the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people, and I think they recognize that being president is a serious job,” Obama said, The Hill reported. “It’s not hosting a talk show or a reality show. It’s not promotion, it’s not marketing, it’s hard. And a lot of people count on use getting it right, and it’s not a matter of pandering and doing whatever gets you in the news on a given day.”

How about in November of 2016, when Obama said this, of the newly elected Trump?

During a news conference in Germany, standing alongside Chancellor Angela Merkel, Obama said the “solemn responsibility” of the White House and the “extraordinary demands” it placed on the commander-in-chief meant someone like Trump would have to “figure out pretty fast” that these are “not things you can treat casually,” Business Insider noted.

Obama went on: “[Trump] ran an extraordinarily unconventional campaign and it resulted in the biggest political upset in perhaps modern political history, American history, and that means that he now has to transition to governance. And what I said to him was what may work in generating enthusiasm or passion during elections may be different than what will work in terms of unifying the country and gaining the trust of those who maybe didn’t support him.”

Of course, that was all then.

Now?

Trump’s been vindicated by the voters. And as the meme suggests, it’s payback time — with humor — for his once-upon-a-time naysayers.
