MONTICELLO, Utah (AP) - The body of a Utah guardsman killed in action in Afghanistan has arrived in his hometown of Monticello in time for his funeral.

Aaron Butler’s body arrived Thursday at the Monticello airport, on the day that would have been his 28th birthday. He was killed in an Aug. 16 explosion in eastern Afghanistan where 11 others were injured. Many students, residents, friends and other came to airport to pay their respects. The main highway through Monticello and Blanding was decorated with yellow ribbons and American flags in his honor.

Butler’s funeral will be held Saturday.
