BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Burlington, Vermont, is leaving to run the state lottery.

The Burlington Free Press reports Daniel “Danny” Rachek has worked for the FBI for more than 22 years, including six years as supervisory senior resident agent in Vermont. He led financial investigations for the FBI.

Republican Gov. Phil Scott sys Rachek’s combined experience with the FBI and as a certified public accountant uniquely qualifies him to lead the department.

The commission has been searching for a new leader since former executive director Greg Smith resigned in October.
