GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - A college student arrested in connection with a shooting death has been extradited back to North Carolina.

Greensboro Police Department Capt. Nathaniel Davis tells the Greensboro News and Record that 20-year-old Samad Dawson was extradited from Philadelphia to Greensboro on Tuesday night. He was arrested on a first-degree murder charge on Aug. 4.

Dawson, a sophomore at North Carolina A&T State University, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 27-year-old Kimeko Dejuan James.

Campus police answering a call found James with life-threatening injuries in a vehicle near a dormitory at A&T on the night of April 20. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

No motive for the shooting has been given.

It’s unclear if Dawson has an attorney.
