LEMON GROVE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities have killed a man during a gunbattle in a San Diego suburb.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says a La Mesa police officer heard a scream coming from a car stopped at a green light but it sped off as he approached.
A short time later, the car stopped in a Lemon Grove cul-de-sac and three men ran off.
One man was spotted by a San Diego officer at the scene who released a police dog.
It bit the man, who opened fire on his pursuers.
The San Diego officer, two La Mesa officers and a sheriff’s sergeant fired back, killing him.
