BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - An editor tasked with finishing a film that was embroiled in a $28 million fundraising fraud case says the project is “creatively complete”.
The Burlington Free Press reports (https://bfpne.ws/2wDlqee) “Birth of Innocence” was derailed when creator Malcolm Parker, of Addison, and his business partner, Louis Soteriou, of Middlebury, Connecticut, were both sentenced in August 2013 for a fraud scheme. Prosecutors say Parker and Soteriou used a portion of the $28 million they raised from investors on themselves.
Both have been ordered to pay $7.4 million in restitution.
According to court documents, film editor Horace Williams told investors the film is “creatively complete”. Williams wrote that he and his partner are searching for a company to distribute the film while a Los Angeles company puts the final touches on the film.
