DOVER, Del. (AP) - A senior airman who was seriously injured in a car accident before his deployment was able to thank some of the Delaware businesses that assisted him.

Raynard Ian Hughes, a senior airman at Dover Air Force Base, along with his wife, Monika, thanked three Dover businesses on Monday for assisting them following his car accident on July 21.

Delaware State News reports that the couple didn’t have a place to live or furnishings after the accident. The Delaware Military Support Organization stepped in and contacted several Dover companies to assist the family.

The nonprofit was started by Dover City Councilman William “Bill” Hare with the assistance of others. Hare says the organization has helped three active duty members at DAFB and is hoping to expand its mission.
