IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - An October trial has been scheduled for an Iowa parolee accused of fatally shooting an Iowa City taxi driver.

Court records say 41-year-old Curtis Jones has pleaded not guilty to robbery and first-degree murder. He’s accused of killing 46-year-old Ricky Lille, whose body was found June 28 in his cab. Jones’ trial is set to begin Oct. 17.

Investigators say in court records that Jones entered Lillie’s cab and took an uninterrupted ride to a street near a motel, shot Lillie in the head and left the scene.

Iowa Department of Corrections records show that Jones has been in and out of prison since 2001. He was granted parole last October on a burglary charge.
