SELMA, Ala. (AP) - A 71-year-old Alabama man was killed when his motorcycle struck a ditch.

AL.com reports that Alabama State Troopers say Jacob Allen Caver’s 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle left the roadway on Lowndes County 54 and struck the ditch on Sunday evening. The Selma man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, but it remains under investigation.

The crash was about 12 miles (19 kilometers) north of Hayneville.
