POTOMAC, Md. (AP) - A wine superstore owner says he’s running for Congress again.

David Trone announced his candidacy Wednesday for the Democratic nomination for Maryland’s 6th District, which includes western Maryland and a large section of Montgomery County.

Trone is the owner of the Total Wine and More chain.

He’s pledging to continue the work of Rep. John Delaney, who announced last week that he’ll run for president instead of seeking re-election. Trone says he’ll oppose attempts to gut healthcare, women’s rights, education, environmental protections and Social Security.

In 2016, Trone sought the 8th District seat, which includes suburbs of Washington and Baltimore. He put more than $12 million of his money into the contest, making it the most expensive self-funded House campaign at the time. He lost the primary to Jamie Raskin.
