HAZLETON, Pa. (AP) - A former Pennsylvania security guard who claimed school officials made degrading racial and sexual comments has received a $100,000 settlement from the district.

The Standard-Speaker reports (https://bit.ly/2u3rhcQ ) Sir Hayes settled with the Hazleton Area School District in October 2016 without the district acknowledging wrongdoing.

Hayes had previously contacted the U.S. Department of Justice about the comments made toward him.

According to settlement details released Tuesday, Hayes voluntarily resigned from his job with the district in March 2016. Hayes has also agreed not to file additional claims against the district and waved any rights to work for the district again.

The district has also agreed to pay Hayes’ attorney $50,000.
