EDGEWOOD, Ky. (AP) - District officials say an employee brought a loaded gun to a middle school in northern Kentucky that was not in session.

Multiple media outlets report officials at Turkey Foot Middle School in Edgewood discovered the gun midmorning on Friday. Principal Ray Stanley said no one was injured and the school building was secured. Students are scheduled to start the school year on Wednesday. But students and employees have been in and out of the building preparing for the start of the school year.

Officials did not identify the employee, who was placed on leave pending the outcome of an investigation. Edgewood Police Chief Tony Kramer would not say if the employee was arrested and would not say what type of gun was brought to the school.
