WARREN, Maine (AP) - Police in Maine have captured an escaped inmate who walked away from a prison earlier this week.

The Portland Press Herald reports (https://bit.ly/2uNMVlG ) Rockland police apprehended 26-year-old Jacob Carney, formerly of Surry, near the Breakwater Marketplace in Rockland late Wednesday. According to Maine Department of Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick, a prison fugitive recovery team formally arrested Carney.

Officials say Carney walked off from the Bolduc Correctional Center Wednesday.

Carney was sentenced to 30 months in prison in March 2016 for the felony theft of an iPhone from a high school student. Carney had been scheduled to be released in March 2018. Fitzpatrick says Carney will likely be charged with escape.
