PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland City Commissioner Nick Fish announced he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer.
Fish said Thursday he has lost weight in recent months while dealing with poor appetite, indigestion and abdominal pain. He said a recent CT scan rang alarm bells, and a follow up exam confirmed he has adenocarcinoma of the abdomen.
Doctors at OHSU have prescribed outpatient chemotherapy treatments. Fish said he will continue serving on the council, and intends to “fight this disease with every fiber of my body.”
The 58-year-old commissioner won his seat in 2008 and has been re-elected twice.
