GLOUCESTER, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey town is celebrating a new bike sharing program.
Gloucester Township officially launched its Bike Share program Wednesday. The initiative allows residents to ride bikes for free by signing up through a smartphone app. Once registered, residents secure their bikes with a credit card to ensure they’re returned to the 10-unit bicycle kiosk.
Mayor David Mayer tells the Courier-Post the initiative shows the town’s dedication to open space and encouraging exercise. Police Chief W. Harry Earle says the Bike Share program is a great way to bring the community together.
Camden County Freeholder Susan Shin Angulo says the initiative was made possible through an open space grant. Gloucester follows towns and cities like Camden, Pennsauken and Collingswood with its own bike sharing program.
