TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The Latest on a fatal shooting involving a security guard (all times local):
10:30 a.m.
Tucson police say a fatal shooting of a man by a security guard occurred near a University of Arizona facility in southeast Tucson but had no apparent connection to the university.
Sgt. Pete Dugan says the man shot by the guard reportedly threw a rock at the guard’s car during a confrontation Tuesday evening as the guard was at an intersection near the University of Arizona Science & Technology Park.
Dugan says the shooting occurred in a nearby desert area during a subsequent altercation between the security guard and the other man.
Dugan says investigators questioned the guard and that he was not arrested. He says police continue to investigate and so far have only the security guard’s account of what happened.
No identities were released.

Tucson police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man by an on-duty security guard.
Police say the incident occurred Tuesday evening in a desert area near South Kolb Road and Interstate 10 in southeast Tucson.
Sgt. Pete Dugan told media outlets that homicide detectives questioned the security guard, who had called 911 and told officers he was involved in an altercation with the man.
Identities weren’t released and Tucson police did not immediately respond Wednesday to a request for additional information.
