LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas has launched a 24-hour hotline for residents to report annoyances at short-term rental properties in an effort to control party houses.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported (https://bit.ly/2x4O9pl ) Tuesday that residents can report noise, trash, parking issues and other nuisances at rental properties.

The city might send an officer out right away for an ongoing party or if a case is already opened into the property. In other cases, the officer might come the next day.

Complaints can be made anonymously, but city staffers prefer to have contact information in case they have follow-up questions.

Party houses in central city neighborhoods have been an issue in Las Vegas for years, but the problem has ramped up with the popularity of home-sharing websites.
