Washington Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg will pitch Monday for the Potomac Nationals as part of a rehab assignment at Pfitzner Stadium.
Strasburg has been on the disabled list with a forearm injury since July 27, retroactive to July 24, and he’ll be making his first rehab assignment. Strasburg threw a simulated game Wednesday.
How long, or when, Strasburg will pitch is unclear. Potomac has yet to announce Monday’s starter.
This is Strasburg’s first appearance in Potomac since 2011 when he he was rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. The rest of the Nationals’ minor league affiliates are off Monday.
Strasburg was originally scheduled to miss one start, but the Nationals have been cautious with his rehab, given their postseason ambitions and a 14-game lead in the National League East.
Monday’s game starts at 7:05 p.m.
