NEW YORK (AP) - Gov. Andrew Cuomo is asking New Yorkers and others to sign a petition calling on President Donald Trump to recognize that the Virginia rally was led by white nationalists including Ku Klux Klan members.

New York’s Democratic governor launched the online petition Sunday, a day after a woman was killed when a car rammed into a crowd protesting the rally.

Cuomo called it “a terror attack by white supremacists.”

The Republican president has condemned what he called an “egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides.” But he stopped short of directly denouncing protesters as white supremacists.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio calls the rally “an act of domestic terrorism” and says Trump must publicly recognize that the rally was led by white supremacists.
