BOSTON (AP) - A groundbreaking will be held for a park dedicated to the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon attacks.
Eight-year-old Martin Richard was one of three people killed when two bombs planted near the finish line exploded on April 15, 2013.
Members of the Richard family will celebrate the beginning of construction of Martin’s Park on Wednesday at 1 p.m. They will be joined by Massachusetts Republican Gov. Charlie Baker and Democratic Boston Mayor Martin Walsh.
The space will be located near the Boston Children’s Museum on the South Boston waterfront and will include small sculpture animals, binoculars, slides and a basket swing, play ship, timber maze climber and water garden.
The goal is to create a space for children and families to learn, grow and play.
