CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - A brief look at the third round of the PGA Championship (all times EDT):

LEADING: Kevin Kisner is 7 under after shooting a 1-over 72. He has a one-stroke lead.

JUST BEHIND: Chris Stroud and Hideki Matsuyama were at 6 under.

SHOT OF THE DAY: Jason Day’s tee shot on the 18th landed behind a tree in pine straw. Instead of pitching out to the fairway, he tried hooking it around the tree and the gallery but the shot hit the pine and the ball went into a bush. Day wound up with a quadruple bogey.

CHASE FOR THE SLAM: Done until next year. Jordan Spieth had a 71 to remain at 3 over - 10 strokes behind Kisner. A win would have made him the youngest player with the career Grand Slam.

PICK A WINNER: The winner of this tournament has come from the final pairing of the final round in 18 of the last 20 years. Kisner and Stroud make up that pairing Sunday.

NOTEWORTHY: The average score dropped by more than a stroke for a second straight day to 72.2. It was 73.6 after Round 2.

QUOTEWORTHY: “I had a chance to run away from guys and take people out of the tournament that were four or five, six back, and I didn’t do it. Now I’m in a dogfight tomorrow and I have to be prepared for that.” - Kisner.

TELEVISION: Sunday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (TNT), 2-7 p.m. (CBS).
