WEST RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are searching for a driver who they say crashed into the side of a house.

WCAX-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2voNqRZ ) Royal Wood and his wife were standing in the kitchen of their West Rutland home Tuesday night when they heard a loud bang. The couple looked out of their kitchen window to find a truck had plowed into the side of their house.

Wood says the driver of the vehicle fled the scene, leaving a gaping hole the size of a bumper. The homeowner says he’s grateful the foundation of his home wasn’t affected.

Wood says the vehicle was a gray or silver pickup truck.

Vermont State Police continue to search for the driver.
