BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The mother of a Vermont man killed on Interstate 89 in Richmond when a woman crossed through the median and hit him nearly head on hopes the other driver can turn her life around.

The Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/2vn5uf9 ) reports the mother and other relatives of Brendon Cousino spoke Thursday after 25-year-old Karri Benoir pleaded guilty to a charge of grossly negligent driving with death resulting.

A plea deal calls for her to be sentenced to six to 15 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for October.

Cousino’s mother, Cindy Cousino, said after the change-of-plea hearing that the family has to live in a way to reflect her son’s kindness.

In court, Benoir admitted crossing the median in July 2015 while speeding
