Recently signed Sacramento Kings power forward Zach Randolph was arrested Wednesday night by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department on a felony charge of marijuana possession with intent to sell.
According to reports, the two-time All-Star’s arrest was part of a disturbance that resulted in several police vehicles being damaged after officers attempted to disperse a crowd blocking a Los Angeles street.
Randolph was booked into jail around 4:23 a.m. Thursday local time; his bail posted at $20,000. According to TMZ, the “intent to sell” charge was due to the amount of marijuana Randolph had in his possession.
The 36-year old signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Kings in July after spending the last eight seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies announced plans last month to retire Randolph’s No. 50, “Z-Bo” helping Memphis reach the playoffs seven straight seasons as well as holding the franchise record for rebounds.
