SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Kayla McBride scored a career-high 31 points and the San Antonio Stars closed on a 22-4 run to beat the New York Liberty 93-81 on Tuesday night.

San Antonio trailed 77-71 with 6:48 left but the Stars held New York scoreless for the final 3:25. McBride scored seven points during the run and Kelsey Plum added five.

Kayla Alexander made her first start of the season and scored a career-high 19 points for San Antonio (4-21). McBride was 9 of 22 from the field with five 3-pointers.

Bria Hartley scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half for New York (12-11). Sugar Rodgers made four of the Liberty’s eight 3-pointers and scored 16 points.

Epiphanny Prince’s steal and 3-point play highlighted New York’s 13-0 run to open the second half for a 60-54 lead. McBride ended San Antonio’s third-quarter drought at the 4:54 mark.
