PHOENIX (AP) - Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey is requesting disaster loan assistance for effected Yavapai County residents after recent wildfires and flooding from monsoon storms.

More than 25,000 acres were burned in a wildfire in late June.

Ducey declared a state of emergency and visited the fire site to meet with displaced residents.

Monsoon flooding exacerbated by the charred landscape caused evacuations and road closures and damaged dozens of houses and businesses.

A damage assessment identified 14 destroyed homes, 22 homes with major damage and 84 other homes with lesser damage.

Ducey sent a letter Tuesday to the Small Business Administration requesting help for Yavapai County.

If approved, the assistance would allow residents to apply for small-interest loans through the Disaster Loan Program in order to repair or rebuild damaged residences or businesses.
