JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Mississippi Supreme Court says a circuit court judge has immunity from a lawsuit filed against him by his former court administrator.
The Clarion-Ledger reports (https://on.thec-l.com/2nTa0vL ) that the state Supreme Court ruled Thursday in favor of Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Jeff Weill. The suit accused Weill of harassment, slander and defamation.
Karla Watkins Bailey accused Weill of putting offensive information in footnotes in a court order mentioning her. The language in the order said Weill reprimanded Bailey for engaging in improper communications with an outside party while she worked for him.
Bailey worked for Weill from November 2011 and resigned a year later before going to work for the circuit clerk. Her lawsuit claims Weill tried to get her fired from that job.
