MILWAUKEE (AP) - A man accused of striking and killing a 5-year-old girl on a Milwaukee street and then driving off has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2nNAtuQ ) that 31-year-old Sherman Liddell pleaded guilty in February to two felonies - hit-and-run involving death, and driving while suspended, causing death. He was sentenced Wednesday.
Authorities say Rickyia Langham was holding her mother’s hand as they headed to church Nov. 6 when the girl darted away and ran into the street, where she was struck.
Liddell was credited with about five months he’s spent in jail since his arrest. He’ll be on extended supervision for 10 years following his jail time.
