BAYTOWN, Texas (AP) - The Latest on the fatal shooting this week of a veteran Houston-area law enforcement officer (all times local):

2 p.m.

Houston-area police have clarified that surveillance video showing a man walking near where a veteran law enforcement officer had been fatally shot was recorded about an hour before the shooting.

Baytown police Lt. Steve Dorris said Wednesday that the time stamp on the video showing the man walking along a county courthouse building incorrectly indicated it was recorded Tuesday, instead of Monday.

The man, described as a “possible suspect,” is seen walking in one direction along the courthouse, then returning about a half-hour later.

Dorris says another surveillance video showing a car driving away from the courthouse was recorded after Monday’s shooting and may be the suspect’s car.

Harris County Precinct 3 Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood was arriving for work at the courthouse when he was shot. He later died at a hospital.

Authorities have released surveillance video that shows a man walking near where a Houston-area law enforcement officer was shot and killed moments after arriving for work.

The video shows the man walking close to where Harris County Precinct 3 Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood was shot Monday outside a county courthouse. But the time stamp on the video released by Baytown police indicates it was recorded early Tuesday morning, a day after the shooting.

A Baytown police spokesman has not returned calls to explain whether authorities believe the suspect may have later returned to the scene or whether the time stamp is wrong. The department’s Facebook page refers to the man as “a possible suspect.”

Authorities also have released video of a car in the area possibly belonging to the suspect.

A former district attorney has been placed under armed protection as authorities investigate the fatal shooting of a Houston-area law enforcement officer who was shot moments after arriving for work.

Baytown police Lt. Steve Dorris told the Houston Chronicle (https://bit.ly/2n8r0BJ ) that the protection for former Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson was precautionary.

Harris County Precinct 3 Assistant Chief Deputy Clinton Greenwood was shot Monday by a man who stepped out from behind a dumpster as Greenwood exited his SUV. Authorities say they’re still searching for the gunman.

Greenwood previously was head of the public integrity unit in Anderson’s office.

The 57-year-old Greenwood expressed concern to colleagues last week about a man he’d encountered as part of a corruption investigation.

Anderson left office after her re-election bid failed last year.
