LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Latest on a fatal shooting near schools in South Los Angeles (all times local):

A Los Angeles police official says investigators suspect a shooting that left a 15-year-old boy dead and two other teens critically wounded in South Los Angeles escalated from an argument between classmates.
The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a strip mall in the same area as two elementary schools, a middle school and a high school.
Deputy Chief Phillip Tingirides says Wednesday that investigators are probing whether the shooting escalated from an argument between fellow students.
He says it’s unfortunate that it appears “this escalated from an argument and fights up to guns.”
Tingirides says Wednesday that detectives are also looking into whether the shooting may be connected to two other nearby shootings that occurred later Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
He says one person was killed in the shooting Wednesday morning.

Police say a 15-year-old boy was killed and two other teens were critically wounded in a shooting near schools in South Los Angeles.
Officer Mike Lopez says gunshots were reported around 4 p.m. Tuesday at a strip mall in the same area as two elementary schools and a middle school.
Lopez says responding officers found two boys and a girl with gunshot wounds. All three were taken in critical condition to a hospital, where one of the boys died.
The Los Angeles Times reports (https://lat.ms/2nBIm5A) the condition of the surviving victims stabilized later in the day.
Investigators didn’t name a possible motive but said the suspect is believed to be a black male wearing jeans and a hooded sweatshirt.
