Employees at a Swedish start-up company are volunteering to have a microchip implanted in their hands.

They call themselves Cyborgs and allow their employer, Epicenter, to implant a small microchip in their hands, The Associated Press reports.

It acts as a company swipe card, allowing the host to complete functions like opening doors or make purchases.

Aiming for the fleshy part between the index finger and thumb in one hand, the chip is placed under the skin using a syringe.

Of the company’s 2,000 workers, about 150 have opted for the chip implant, the AP reports.
