ATTICA, Ind. (AP) - The Latest on western Indiana man arrested after being found with explosives in his van (all times local):

Police say a western Indiana man faces charges after probation officers found two bombs inside his van.
Attica Police Chief Bob Cole says 28-year-old Robert William Bandy II was jailed Friday on preliminary charges of undisclosed transportation of a dangerous device and possession, manufacturing and transporting a dangerous device.
Cole says the bombs were attached to one of two bulletproof vests found in the car. He says Bandy said the items were for personal protection.
The Lafayette Journal & Courier reports (https://on.jconline.com/2oR7h5L ) police briefly evacuated people from the immediate area. Indiana State Police detonated the devices in a field.
Cole says probation officers looking for Bandy waited for him until he arrived in the van. He says Bandy was on probation for drug charges out of neighboring Montgomery County.

Police say a western Indiana man has been arrested after being found with explosives in his van.
Attica Police Chief Bob Cole tells WLFI-TV (https://bit.ly/2ppFAD6 ) the 28-year-old man was found Friday morning wearing a bulletproof vest, and other bulletproof vests were found in the van.
WLFI reports a portion of the city located about 70 miles northwest of Indianapolis has been evacuated, but how much wasn’t immediately clear.
Cole says probation officers checking on the man located him inside the van. He says the man was on probation for drug charges out of neighboring Montgomery County.
WLFI reports an Indiana State Police bomb squad is searching the van and assessing the items it found.
Cole says investigators also will search a nearby apartment where the man has been staying.
