PHOENIX (AP) - A Tempe woman has been sentenced to 6 ½ years in prison for embezzling more than $58,000 from her employer.

State prosecutors say 40-year-old Lynna Swann pleaded guilty to theft and fraudulent schemes and artifices.

Tempe police say they found Swann embezzled from Treehouse Realty Group, a property management group that receives multiple checks and money orders as payment from their clients.

A company audit discovered the theft.

Authorities say Swann had $10,000 in checks and money orders in her purse when confronted by her employer.

Police identified about 100 money orders that were deposited into Swann’s account but made out to Treehouse Realty.

They say Swann wrote her name on the money orders.

At the time of the offense, Swann was on probation for stealing from her previous employer.
