COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - The Democratic National Committee’s new boss is the keynote speaker of a South Carolina Democratic Party fundraiser.
Tom Perez will deliver the address at Friday night’s inaugural Blue Palmetto Dinner in Columbia.
Perez will be talking about the need to build the party and compete on all levels.
Perez was labor secretary and assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Obama administration.
Perez recently made headlines when he said President Trump and House Speaker Paul Ryan “don’t give a s—- about people.” He tweeted “Sorry not sorry” after GOP officials called on him to apologize.
The party will hold its state convention Saturday, when Democrats will elect a new chairman.
Outgoing chairman Jaime Harrison is leaving to be an associate chairman of the national committee.
