OPINION:
President Donald Trump, looking back on his first few months in office, said he misses his freedom, misses his private-sector life and misses the business work he says is easier to do than the presidency.
Well, on the bright side: Only three years, eight months to go. Or seven years, eight months, depending on how things pan.
Either way — just a hop, skip and jump, right?
“I loved my previous life,” Trump said in an interview with Reuters. “I loved my previous life. I had so many things going. I actually — this is more work than my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”
That’s kind of humorous, coming from a leader of the free world — the guy whom everybody on the planet turns to for thoughts, reactions, responses, advice, action and so forth.
“I thought it would be easier.” Oh, Mr. President. LOL. That is just too funny.
Trump also said he doesn’t care for the bubble of the Oval Office — the spotlight that constantly shines and intrudes.
“And, while I had very little privacy in my old life because, you know, I’ve been famous for a long time, I really — this is much less privacy than I’ve seen before. This is, you know, something that’s really amazing. At the same time, you’re really into your own cocoon because there’s such massive protection that you really can’t go anywhere.”
Trump admitted, too, that the entire subject of health care took him off guard in terms of its complexity.
“Nobody knew health care could be so complicated,” he said, Reuters reported.
Again — kind of funny. Some people knew. But that’s OK. We still love ya, Mr. President.
Especially your sense of humor — and the fact that you actually, truly believed being president of the United States, leader of the free world, commander-in-chief of the most powerful military on the globe, point person for all things political, both domestic and foreign, might be a nice break from the burdens, responsibilities and stresses of, say, running a business. Or hosting a successful celebrity television show.
Like you said, who knew?
