Joy Behar said Wednesday that immigration enforcement is analogous to slavery and the Holocaust — and insulted first lady Melania Trump in the process.
In an appearance on “The View,” Ms. Behar, who frequently engages in hyperbolic bashing of Republicans, was discussing sanctuary cities and the Trump administration’s efforts to crack down on them with co-host Whoopi Goldberg.
Sanctuary cities are “sort of like the Underground Railroad in a way,” she said.
“It reminds me of, or the people of Germany who took in the Jews, there are people who are really in trouble, who are going to be separated from their children,” Ms. Behar said.
Then she did her own bit of immigrant-bashing by going after the first lady, who was born in Slovenia.
“Anyway, where’s Melania gonna go if we don’t have any sanctuary cities?” she asked her applauding audience, falsely stating that Mrs. Trump is in the U.S. illegally.
