Rep. Marsha Blackburn said Tuesday the State Department website should not have posted an article on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club on its website.

“It shouldn’t have happened and ought to come down,” the Tennessee Republican said on CNN.

The State Department said Monday the article was meant to inform the public about where the president has been hosting world leaders and having meetings, but added the page had been taken down.

Mrs. Blackburn said there needs to be further clarity on how this happened to prevent ethical conflicts.

“There should be a statement to provide some clarity as to how that happened, but that’s the kind of thing that should not happen,” she said.

“I think what you have to look at is the compliance that the government ethics office requires,” Mrs. Blackburn said adding, “They’re the ones that are going to say if he is or is not in compliance, and will more or less be the referee on that situation.”
