House Speaker Paul Ryan has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1999. Prior to becoming speaker in October, 2015, Mr. Ryan served on the House Ways and Means Committee as well as on the House Budget Committee. With all of this experience, why didn’t he have a health-care bill ready? Why didn’t he have a budget bill? A tax-reform bill?

President Trump has presented a bold plan to put America back on the road of prosperity, and as head of the executive branch, Mr. Trump is doing his part by eliminating costly and unnecessary regulations and by cutting departmental operating expenses. In order for the country to reach its full potential, however, the three reforms now before Congress must be in place in order for the president’s plan to be effective.

Many in the media refer to those in Congress as the political elite. However, if Speaker Ryan is not willing to move the nation forward, to serve the country by implementing the president’s plan, then he needs to step aside. He may believe he is an elite, but if he stands in the way of the American people, he should no longer be allowed to stay among the political elite.
