PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Superior Court judge in Rhode Island sentenced a man to 15 years in prison for a drunken driving crash that killed his girlfriend.

The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/2pXn6cT ) reports 24-year-old Johnny Sak pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in the December 2015 crash that killed 22-year-old Alexandra Patten Parenteau.

Police say Sak drove his 1994 Saturn into a telephone pole in Woonsocket. His estimated blood-alcohol level at the crash was 0.16, twice the legal limit. Parenteau, the mother of Sak’s one-year-old daughter, was sitting in the passenger’s seat.

Prosecutors say Sak faces additional prison time for violating probation at the time of the crash. He was previously charged with breaking and entering, and receiving stolen items valued over $1,500.
