BARRE, N.Y. (AP) - An experienced skydiver has fallen to his death during a jump in Western New York.

Thirty-year-old Eric Miller had done more than 700 jumps, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle . He was diving Saturday with WNY Skydiving. The company had no further comment. Miller’s family didn’t comment.

The Orleans County Sheriff’s office told the newspaper that Miller went down in an open field near the town of Barre around 7:30 p.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses told authorities that Miller and another WNY member departed the Pine Hill Airport for a jump. The partner couldn’t find Miller on the ground.

The cause of the accident is being investigated. There are 10 skydiving zones in New York.
