President Trump announced Saturday his plans for next weekend the he skips the annual White House Correspondents Dinner: He’ll be holding a rally in Pennsylvania.

Mr. Trump, whose relationship with the press corps has been combative, boycotted the annual black-tie affair for Washington’s media elite and Hollywood stars where the president is traditionally the guest of honor and the main attraction.

“Next Saturday night I will be holding a BIG rally in Pennsylvania. Look forward to it!” tweeted Mr. Trump.

The rally is scheduled for April 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex & Expo Center in Harrisburg.

Mr. Trump’s win in Pennsylvania was key to sealing his election victory in November. He was the first Republican to win the Keystone State since 1988.

His absence from the dinner and the decision by top White House officials to shun the event in solidarity with the president has put a damper on the affair next Saturday.

Earlier, Mr. Trump tweeted that he and First Lady Melania Trump were headed to a military hospital facility in Bethesda, Md., to visit wounded warriors.

“Getting ready to visit Walter Reed Medical Center with Melania. Looking forward to seeing our bravest and greatest Americans!” he tweeted.
