Rep. Rodney Davis said Friday he’s not sure what some Congress members are referring to when they talk about the new health care deal.
“I wish I knew what was in this so-called deal,” the Illinois Republican said on CNN.
Republicans are claiming to have reached, or are very close to reaching, a compromise based on last month’s failed health bill. They say the details will be revealed to members ahead of their return to Washington next week.
Mr. Davis said that he welcomes more discussion on the bill and would like to see some Democratic influence as well. But he added that he doesn’t think the process was as rushed as some have been complaining.
Mr. Davis argued that the debate over the health bill is “the same process that we use when we legislate any bill.”
Mr. Davis is a member of the Tuesday Group, a caucus of moderate Republicans who warred with the more conservative Freedom Caucus over the initial Republican health bill.
